Master Chocolatier Jean-Paul Hepp, PhD in Science, founder of CHOCODIEM first opened his doors for business in Clinton, NJ in 2012 and after only four years was recognized as one of the Top Ten Chocolatiers in North America by Dessert Professional Magazine in association with the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City in 2016. The company’s high-end “Old World” Belgian chocolates are handmade from locally sourced, fresh ingredients from farms in Pennsylvania and New Jersey when possible.
Belgian-born Jean-Paul Hepp spent 23 years in the pharmaceutical industry before he decided to change course in his career. One of the things he missed the most from home was Belgian chocolate, so after a trip back home to the Old Country, the idea for CHOCODIEM was born.At first teaming up with his daughter Eveline and testing recipes in Belgium, Jean-Paul launched CHOCODIEM in 2012 with a location in Clinton, New Jersey. In 2013, he was joined by Katherine MacDonnell, whose background in the fashion industry with over 20 years of design and styling experience of luxury brands helped create the CHOCODIEM brand from product to packaging design and grow the company to a brand of high quality. Their dazzling truffles, macarons and other chocolate creations were an instant hit, and CHOCODIEM soon expanded to a second location in Easton, Pennsylvania.
Their belief is that their chocolates not only have to taste great, but also look great, and have to make CHOCODIEM’S customers have a feel good experience! At the end of 2018, they both opened CHOCODIEM'S new location in Old City Philadelphia at The Bourse Food Hall. They are now working on growing the CHOCODIEM brand and experience in Philadelphia.
